Using the Language to Nature Method to Lower Landfalling Hurricane Intensity Forecasts

When I use the Language to Nature Method, the official forecasted intensity of the storm usually does not verify. This is called an influenced tropical storm. The intensity forecasts from the National Hurricane Center and other principals will rarely verify their predictions when storms have been influenced by the Language to Nature Method. Forecasters will use terminology such as ‘there is an atmospheric lag’ or a “non-verifying forecast.” Typically, results of the more dramatic non-verifying forecasts are not made accessible to the public.
